Oscar Night

My grandmother and aunt are in the background of all four of these pictures! In the first pic (with Leo!) you can see my grandmother looking sideways (brown dress, glasses, curly gray-ish brown hair). You can see my aunt real good in pictures 2 & 3. You can see both of their faces in the last pic! I hear they had a great time and even went to the bathroom when Jennifer Lopez and Kelly Preston were in there!

Through the Eyes of a Child

Tonight, Dylan and I went over to my aunt and uncle's house for dinner. On the way there Dylan said he saw Cedie. He was real excited and kept saying "look mom, can't you see her, she got her wings!" He said he saw her in the clouds. In fact, she was pushing the black cloud out of the way for the sun. He said that must be the job Jesus needed her for. He said he thought he could even see Jesus' hand guiding her. He said "mommy, she looks so happy!"

Needless to say, I was grateful for my big sunglasses at that point. He couldn't see how his words torn through me. I didn't want to spoil his obvious joy. I did glance in the direction he was talking about but I just couldn't see it. O, to see through the eyes of a child!

***On a much lighter note, my grandmother and my aunt (both from St. Louis) were one of the lucky ones who attended the Oscars tonight! Believe it or not, my aunt won the trip which included staying at a famous hotel, tickets for either Oprah's Ball or the Governor's Ball, and a walk down the red carpet! I can't wait to hear the stories!

Can't Keep A Good Guy Down

Dylan was feeling so much better and it was such a beautiful afternoon so Chris decided to take him to a nearby field and let him ride on his four wheeler. He hasn't ridden on it in quite a while. They let me tag along so I could take pictures :-) The three of us had a good time.

Dylan was feeling better this afternoon so I took him with me to see Cedie's marker. They just got it in yesterday. He helped me put up a latern for her.

(There are more pictures of her stone on her blog)

It's Tough Being Sick

Dylan went to work with me today. He was so pitiful.

Normally, when Dylan comes to my office he is into everything. He wants to play on the computers, watch the cameras, and horse around with G-daddy (I work for my father). Today he laid on the floor by my desk (I brought him a blanket) and watched his movies. He even took a nap! (He hasn't taken a nap since he was 3!) At the end of the day I had to carry him (not so easy to do anymore) out to the car.

His temps have been better today but he is still real hoarse and his runny nose is closer to a waterfall than a leaky faucet!

Tonight it looks like he will be spending another day with me tomorrow.

Dylan has Strep

Dylan still battled a fever Sunday and this morning, so it was off to the doctor! Sure enough, he has strep :-(

Dr. J gave him an antibiotic to take and he can't go to school until Wednesday. He was out today for President's Day. He is upset about tomorrow because he loves going to school and he especially loves Mrs. J, his teacher!

Chris and I are crossing our fingers that Dylan doesn't share his virus with us!

Dylan's Infamous Fever is Back

Tonight Dylan has a temp of 104.1! He has lost his voice and his breathing is real raspy.

Unfortunately, Dylan is known for these outrageous fevers. (he gets them from Chris, who also runs high fevers) Sometimes a fever will just pop up at night, run throughout the night, and then break the next day without any other symptoms! It's pretty wild.

I had hoped he had grown out of it because its been awhile since he has has a fever this high (I think maybe God knew I couldn't handle that on top of taking care of Cedie).

I will have to take Dylan to the doctor Monday if things don't get better tomorrow.

Happy Birthday Dylan!

Chris and I went to Dylan's school and had lunch with him today. After lunch we went back to his classroom and ate the cupcakes Dylan picked out last night. His whole class sang Happy Birthday to him. It was really fun!

HAPPY 6th BIRTHDAY TO MY SPECIAL VALENTINE!

Flowers for Cedie

Today Dylan and I went to church (Chris was on a 4 wheeler ride). This was the first Sunday that I was brave enough to return. It was even harder than I imagined. You see, we had Cedie's funeral service in our church's sanctuary. Every time I looked to the stage this morning, I could only picture the way it was that day. I can still see her in her beutiful dress, lying in her tiny coffin. My church was very supportive of my tears and many stopped to give me hugs and words of encouragement.

After church, Dylan and I went to lunch with Meemaw and Peepaw. Dylan made sure mom only had things to laugh at and nothing to be sad about. He's great at that!

Dylan and I had been talking about taking flowers to the cemetary and I needed to see if her headstone was there yet anyway. So, we decided to go after lunch. We got her some pretty (silk) pink and red baby roses. We also got her a little heart shaped Valentine's Day balloon. At the site, they had an orange cone set up. Her stone is not there yet. We used the cone as a flower/balloon holder and we tied purple ribbon around it. We sat down by it for a little while. Dylan told her all about his party and bowling. It was really sweet.

We met back up with Chris and had our usual Sunday night dinner at Nana's and G-daddy's. We all watched the Grammy's.

Dylan's Birthday Party

We celebrated Dylan's birthday today. (His actual birthday is Feb. 14th- yes he's a Valentine's Boy!)

First we met all 3 sets of grandparents, Dylan's Godmother and her family, and a few of his friends at Coletta's Italian Restaraunt for lunch, cake, and presents.

Then 4 of us adults took 5 kids (ages 4-6) bowling. Only one of the kids had bowled before (not Dylan). It was quite funny to watch. They all got the hang of it though and we all had a blast.

Dylan got lots of great gifts! Thanks everyone!

Here's a video of all the fun!
