Adoption Update

Yes, among everything else going on, we are still pursuing an adoption. We raised approx. 50% of the funds this past spring. We plan to do some more fundraising in September, once the weather cools down a bit.

Please keep praying that God will lead us to the right child. We have hit several road blocks. We have decided to broaden our search to include a little girl age 0 to 5 (we were looking at 2-5 but feel we might have better luck with a 0-5 range). Also we are looking into domestic as well as international.

Any advice on the subject of adoption would be most appreciated.

My School

So I started back to school yeasterday. The last time I was there was Spring 2005 when I was pregnant with Cedie.

This semester I am taking 17 hours. I am taking Spanish 3, Old South History, Literary Critism, Intro to Linguistics, British Literature 2, and a science lab.

After the first day, I already have a paper assignment due on 9/11 and homework due Wednesday! Its going to be a busy semester!

Happy Birthday Nana!

Last Friday (8/24) was Nana's birthday. We met at Joe's Crab Shack to celebrate. A balloon artist made Dylan a dragon and Nana a special birthday hat (she didn't want the pics posted). We had a lot of fun and ate a great dinner!

When Dylan was finished with dinner he asked if he could go look at something. Next thing we know, he is leaning against the bar talking to a waitress. Such a flirt! He came back with a couple little treats though! Too cute!

Dottie & Friends

We dog sat for my parents a couple weekends ago. Their two Schnauzer puppies (one is a couple yrs old and the other is 6 mths old). The black one is Asta and the white one is Dash. Both are boys. They got along well with Dottie. They were all so cute so I had to take some pics :-)

My 1st Grader!

This are the pics I took on the first day of school. Dylan was so tired that morning! We had just arrived in from Vegas at 5am!

Very Busy couple of weeks!

I am sorry I haven't posted in a while. We have been so busy!

Dylan started school the day we came back from Vegas. He really liked his new 1st grade teacher and his new class. However, on Friday of the first week, the school had to make some adjustments and Dylan's class got dis banned. His teacher moved up to 3rd grade and he and his classmates got divided up among the other 1st grade classes. So the next Monday (week 2 of school), Dylan started with a new class and a new teacher. He seems to like her too but he didn't have any of his friends in this new class. Monday night we had to go up to the school for curriculum night where we met his teacher and learned about her plans for the year. He is going to be a busy boy!

PTA kept me busy the last couple weeks. I had a board meeting Tuesday afternoon during the 1st week of school. Then, last Tuesday and Thursday night, I had to help at the school with curriculum nights.

Another thing that has kept me busy is getting ready for my own return to school (my 1st day was yesterday).

On the weekends, we have dog sat and gone to three birthday parties.

O, and Dylan has started soccer practice- 1st game is Sept 8th!

I did take pictures over the last couple weeks and I will post them today.

Our Vegas Trip

We got into Vegas around 12:30 their time (2:30 at home). Chris' cousins Eric and Ben picked us up. We drove down the strip on the way to our hotel. The lights were so amazing! We got to our hotel room at the Red Rock Casino around 2:30. There was a bottle of champagne, and a bottle of milk with some yummy cookies waiting on a table for us!

Friday morning we met Chris' cousin Kathy and her three boys, Remington, Sterling, and Windham, in the lobby. Dylan and the boys connected right away. The 7 of us and Ben all went to a cafe in the hotel for breakfast. Eric is a manger there and he was able to eat with us too. After breakfast we took the boys to see the awesome pools at the Red Rock. From there we went to the Hover Dam. The scenery was amazing. We've never seen anything like it. After that we went over to the Mirage Hotel to visit the Dolphin Habitat and Siegfried & Roy's Secret Garden. Next we headed back to Kat's house. Dylan spent the night with his cousins. That night the adults went to the Wynn Hotel/Casino to dance at the Tryst Night Club. After that we went to The Palms to dance at Rain and eat at Lucky 24/7 dinner.

Saturday we spent most of the day hanging at Kathy and Shawn's house. The kids had so much fun. Shawn made us an awesome dinner! The boys wanted Dylan to stay with them again. Kathy, Eric, Ben, Chris, and I went out again Saturday night. First we went to the Ghost Bar at the Palms. Then we went to Vince Neil Ink on the strip. Chris and I both decided to get a tattoo of Cedie's name. I got mine on my wrist and Chris got his on his forearm. After that we went to the Luxor. That place was cool! Its in the shape if a pyramid. Eric, Chris, and I had to check out the inclinator (the elevator goes side ways and up!). We all ate at a cafe in the casino. We laughed so hard and had a lot of fun just kidding around.

Sunday we headed back over to Kathy's. Shawn, Chris, and the boys hung out at the house most of the day watching NASCAR. Kathy and I went shopping at an outlet mall. We all met up for dinner at PF Changs. We went back to the house for a little while and then we were off to the airport.

We left Vegas around 11:45 (their time) and we got back to Memphis at 5am!

Here are the pictures (in order) of our trip:

Dylan's 1st Plane Ride

Tonight we left for Las Vegas! Dylan was so excited! He has never taken a trip on an air plane. He had lots of questions! Our flight left out of Memphis around 10:45 so I had him in his pj's!

Dog Days of Summer

I guess this hasn't been a good week to be a Mock dog! First, on Saturday, Dottie was bitten and had to get 13 stitches. Now, today, poor Zeus (out rottie) got stuck under the shed! Chris had to use a jack to lift the big shed a few inches so he could squeeze out. Poor doggie!

For the record, we really are good to our dogs and treat them like family... Its jsut been a rough few days.

BUSY WEEK!

It has certainly been a busy week!

Sunday I went shopping for Dylan's school stuff. You wouldn't believe the crowd! Then Dylan and I went to take Cedie her August flowers (there's pics on her site). After that we picked up Chris and we all went to Nana's to celebrate my great-grandmother's 96th birthday and my uncle's birthday. It was great to be able to catch up with everyone, including my cousin Tarrah was will be going off to college in a couple weeks!

Monday we had to take Dottie to her regular vet for a followup from Saturday and to get more meds for her. One of the stitches was almost touching her eye ball so we had the vet snip that one. (Dottie has had to come to work with me each day this week so that I can keep an eye on her. That has been interesting...)

Tuesday was school registration day. I took Dylan up to the school Tuesday morning to register him and let him meet his new teacher and see his new classroom. Dylan never ceases to amaze me with his social skills! It seemed like every adult that went by knew him by name and had such nice words for him. And he talks like such a grown up! Too funny! Anyway.... Tuesday afternoon I had to go back to help. I am on the PTA board this year and so I had to help parents sign up to join the PTA from 3:45-7:00. Afterwards we had a brief meeting and I didn't get home until 8! Whew!! It was a long day!

Today was Dylan's last day at his summer camp (ie the sitter's). They went to Chuck E Cheese! She has been so good with Dylan and taken him to tons of new places. I am so glad we found her and we hope she does this again next year! Tonight I am preparing for our last trip of the summer!!! I'll be sure to take lots of pics and update as soon as we get back.

Dylan starts 1st grade on Monday!

Poor Dottie!

We took Dottie out on the river with us today for a boat ride. We stopped at an island. There were two other dogs there. One was a girl German Shepperd. Dottie tried to take her food so she took a bite out of Dottie! We took her to the Animal Emergency clinic. They had to keep her for a few hours. She ended up with 13 stiches and a shaved head :-(

Poor Dottie! For those who don't know, Dottie is our 11.5 year old Jack Russell, who is also Dylan's best friend and sleeps with him every night.

Dylan's Camp Good Grief

Dylan really enjoyed his days at Camp Good Grief and according to the reports we got from the counselors it helped him with his loss as well.

On the last day, we were invited to come to the camp and watch the kids do skits and sing songs. Below are some videos I shot of Dylan's skit, and two songs he did. I also put a slide show of the pics we took...
