Memorial Day Weekend, etc

I am sorry I have been slacking on the updates. Last week was rough for me, emotionally. Thank you all for your words of encouragement.

On a brighter note, we had a great Memorial Day weekend. Chris and I went on an "adults only" camping trip at Spring River in AR. We went up on Friday night. Saturday and Sunday we rented canoes and went on the 12 mile path down the river. It was so much fun and so nice to put all my emotions to the side and just let loose. I missed Dylan a lot (I've never spent 3 nights away from him before) but I think it did me a lot of good.

Dylan had a fun weekend. Saturday he got to go to a birthday party for his best buddy. They went and saw Shrek III and then went to McDonald's. Sunday he went to church and then to the park. Monday morning he went to the zoo and got to hold a real tarantula! He said it climbed up his shoulder and on his face! Its a good thing I wasn't there- I would've fainted!

There was one major downfall to our weekend. Where we were camping we had no cell phone signal. There was one guy at camp that got signal if you took his phone up a steep gravel hill and stood on the RR tracks, in between the tons of trains that pass through there all of the time. So, I called Dylan once each night from his phone. Sunday night I called my mom (Dylan was supposed to be with her that night). She was at the hospital with my dad. Evidently she had left my sis and me lots of messages (which we ofcourse could not retrieve).

Saturday morning my dad was having chest pains. He went to the ER where they determined he was having a mild heart attack and they admitted him. Sunday it was worse so they did a heart cath and found he had two blockages. They had to put in two stints.

I felt so bad when I talked to my mom. We decided we would get up extra early and leave for home so that we could be with him. We went to see him early Monday afternoon and he was feeling much better. He got to go home Tuesday morning.

To My Daddy,

You gave us quite a scare- DON'T DO THAT ANYMORE!

Love Jenn

Anyway, I hope everyone else had a great holiday! I'll post pics soon.

Cedie's Birthday

The closer it gets to June 16th, the sadder and madder I get. I should be making plans for my little girl's 2nd birthday party! I had already picked out, back in December, what the theme was going to be and what presents I was going to get her. She was supposed to have Tinkerbell themed party and for her present we were going to change her room from the baby theme to a really cool Tinkerbell theme that had alot of purple and greens in it.

Now instead, I have to contemplate on what to do on that day to make it easier for us to cope with our loss. That's just not fair.

I had heard somewhere about the idea of buying toys to donate to the hospital in honor of her. It sounded like a great idea but as the day draws near, I don't know if I can go through it. I may just have to donate at another time.

I have signed Dylan up for a grief camp that is put on by LeBonheur (the hospital that took care of Cedie for so long). It is the week before her birthday (June 7-9/ Thurs. - Sat). I was just going to go on Saturday (they have a special memorial service that day). However, the way I've been hurting lately, I have decided to take advantage of their adult activities/counseling on Thursday and Friday as well.

Anyway, please pray for us as we make it thru this time.
And don't feel bad if you call and I don't want to talk about this with you. Sometimes I just can't deal with it and need to distract myself with other things.

RedBirds Game

We took Dylan to a Red Birds game today. We all had a very nice time.

After the game (which the Red Birds won 3-0) all the kids got to run the bases. Dylan loved it!

Memphis in May BBQ Fest

We spent most of the past week in downtown Memphis alongside the river at BBQ Fest. This was Chris 3rd year on the Security Smokers Team. Tuesday was set up.
Wednesday night was Family Night. Dylan and I both joined Chris after work/school. We had so much fun and had lots of good BBQ. Dylan played so hard and made lots of new friends.
Thursday night was the Miss Piggie Contest. Chris and I went to hang out and watch the contest. It was a hoot! (see clips in the video)
Friday, Chris had the cooking contest all day. My sister and I met up with him after work and we partied. Its been a long time since I had that much fun! I ran in to tons of people I know and fun was had by all!
Saturday they announced the winners and guess what..... Chris' team got 9th place on the ribs!!! That's out of 157 teams from all over the world - there was even a Norway team there!

When you consider how much time we actually spent there, I didn't take a whole lot of pics but there's some cute ones in this video:

New Dylan Video

Below is a video of Dylan first annual, end of the school year, FIELD DAY! Chris and I went to watch and it was a blast! After the field day activities, we had a special graduation party in his classroom. His teacher made a scrapbook for each child of their kindergarten year. I put the pictures in the video.
Near the end of the video, there is a very special picture of Cedie that his teacher had taken during Open House near the beginning of the year when she got to come visit. Dylan was so happy to see it in there and I just balled! I told him they were happy tears because I thought it was so special that she was able to be at his school and in his yearbook.

So enjoy!

Big Project

Its that time of year again to open up our pool. Last year when we opened it, we discovered that the cover had holes in it and it caused the pool liner to practically be ruined. Last summer we didn't have the time or the money to replace the liner so we made do (and used a lot of chemicals). When it came time to close, we decided to use the same cover because the liner was already ruined and we didn't have to money to get a new cover.

So, this past week we bought the new liner so that we could open up the pool (we don't get alot of sun back there so it takes about a month to warm the water) This turned out to be a big project that took all day but we are really happy with the results! (Thanks to G-daddy for his help!)

Here are some before and after pics:

Pirates Winning Streak

Dylan had a game against the Giants on Thursday night and a game against the Cardinals on Saturday morning. His team won both games! Go Pirates!

Here are some pics from Saturday's game:

Fun Night

Dylan had T-ball pictures and practice last night. After that we went to Barnes and Noble, where they were having a fundraiser night for Dylan's school. They had balloons, face painting, and door prises. Dylan even got to sit down and listen to his principal read a story about a singing cowgirl. A portion of the proceeds from all of the purchases that night went to BES and their playground fund.

After the book fair at B&N, we went across the street to eat at Chick-fil-a, where they were also having a fundraiser for the school.

It sure was fun supporting such a good cause :-)
BES does not have a playground so the PTA is trying to raise the money to have one built for the kids

Our Weekend

We had a great weekend!

Friday night, Dylan got to go to Lucy Elementary school's carnival with Meemaw.

Saturday morning, I had the big sale (see separate post on that). Dylan and Chris had a 8am T-ball game. Pirates did an awesome job and won again! Go Pirates! Late Saturday afternoon, we three went to visit "Aunt Rachel", "Uncle Tre", Grant and Tatum. We cooked out steaks and had a great time. We went over there to watch the race but it was rained out so we watched a movie instead.

Sunday, Dylan and Chris went four-wheelin' and I went to get my hair cut and colored (thank you again, mom!). Sunday night, I got to go downtown to MusicFest with my sister to see Daughtery (thanks Aunt Kim, Uncle Jim, and Dalton for the tickets!). We had a fun time.

Yard Sale Success!

We had our yard sale on Saturday and it was a huge success. We made lots of money towards our adoption- more than the first 3 sales combined. We were afraid it was going to rain but the weather turned out great- although it was very hot when it came time to pack up what we didn't sale.

Once we sale Chris' Jepp (anyone need a 94 Jeep Wrnagler???) we will be almost 2/3 of the way to our goal! I am very excited!

One of the main reasons this week's sale was such a success is the donation of items from Justice and John H., Lindsey G, my parents, and David A. Thank you so much!

Also, thank you to "Meemaw" for all her hard work and the use of her house once again. Thank you Justice and Elizabeth for you help as well. There's no way I could have pulled this off without any of you!

Prayer Rings

We are going to try to have another yard sale to raise money for our adoption this Saturday (hopefully it won't get rained out).

My Great Grandmother Bubba(95 years young) made some "Prayer Rings" for me to sell in our yard sale. For those of you who don't know, these rings are made to be put on your door knobs.

My Great Aunt Rita (mom's mom's sister)made little tags to go with the rings. The tag says "Put on your door knob, This little ring of LOVE, As we remeber CEDIE, Who watches us from Above."

I thought this was the sweetest contribution to our cause and just wanted to share with everyone.

WalkAmerica March of Dimes Walk

This past weekend was the WalkAmerica March of Dimes Walks. Two of our fellow CHARGE families did the walk in honor of their children and in memory of our Cedie Lynn. Eva's family walked in Illinois. (Click here to read about their day and watch an awesome video that has Cedie in it)
Eva's mom had shirts made and she sent us one.

Evan's team called Evan's CHARGErs walked in Washington. (Click here to read about their day and to see their great video where you can also see Cedie)

Chris and I were so touched that both of these families would honor our daughter's memory. It occurred to us on Monday that people on both sides of the US were seeing our Angel's picture and reading her name this past weekend!

Thank you to all of those who donated money to both of these teams in Cedie's memory. It really is a great cause.
