Impromptu Super Hero Party?

Saturday night we had Chris' cousin Wendy, her husband and two sons, his cousin Curt with his son, his Dad and Step mom, and his sister, Becky all over for dinner. Chris cooked ribs all day and they were delicious! We all had a good time visiting and eating.

Dylan's cousins, Connor and Owen, all had a blast playing with Dylan's super hero costumes. Dylan was Capt. Jack Sparrow. Connor (just a few months younger than Dylan) was Spiderman. Owen (the youngest) was the Human Torch. They all had a ton of fun (and they were very entertaining to watch).

Pirates Tie Indians

You never know what will happen or what will be said at a Little League T-Ball game!
For example, who could have guessed that a RED FOX would interrupt the 3rd inning of the game by running strait through the field! He ran right in front of Dylan. He also ran through another game that was going on at the same time. Both games had to be stopped for a few minutes so that the coaches could calm down the players! It was hilarious! And Dylan had us moms cracking up when, after running from 1st base all the way to home plate, he exclaims "That was Hot!"

Anyway, it was a tied game so all the kids won! Here are a few pics from today's game:

Just Checking In

Its been one of those weeks for me. I am really missing my little angel Cedie.

Monday and Tuesday, I had to play catch up on the laundry and house work each day after work, since I was gone all weekend.

Wednesday, I was very distraught when I read that God had taken another little CHARGEr girl up to Heaven. Her story was so similar to Cedie's and the unfairness of it all broke my heart. I cried for hours and spent the afternoon and night in my room.

Thursday, I went through my attic looking for stuff to sell in our upcoming yard sale fundraiser for our adoption.

This morning they had a Volunteers breakfast at Dylan's school. I got to eat and visit with some other mom's. I also got to talk to Dylan's teacher and see him in his class. (Luckily he is still at an age where mommy popping in is a cool thing- not embarrassing yet).

After school it was so beautiful outside so Dylan and I decided to go buy Cedie some new flowers for May. The official flower for the month of May is Pansies so we found her some dark purple, lavender, and pink pansies.

Tomorrow, Dylan has his 2nd game (if it doesn't rain out). Chris is cooking some ribs for his dad's side of the family who are all coming over tomorrow night.

Hope everyone has a great weekend!

Last Minute Trip

So, right before we headed out to Dylan's game, we got a call from Me-maw. She told us that Chris' cousins Kathy, Eric, and Ben (all from Las Vegas) were in Hot Springs for the weekend. It was a sudden thing because Chris' aunt's mom had passed away (we are sorry for your loss, Aunt Becky). Anyway, Chris has been trying to meet his cousin Kathy for two years now but we were never able to go to Las Vegas nor get up to Hot Springs when ever she came there. (Its a long story on why Chris has never met his cousin....)

So, we decided to take advantage of the situation and make the trip as soon as Dylan's game was over.

We had a great visit. Kathy was so sweet and lots of fun. First we played outside and visited. The boys had a home-made potatoe gun that we tried out. Dylan had more fun with those potatoes! Then, we all went out to the lake to check out Eric's cousin's new jet ski. Later we all (there was 11 of us!) went to a great seafood place and stayed until almost 10pm talking, laughing, and catching up. After dinner, we all stayed up - some of us til almost 3am- and listened to Eric and Ben play the guitars and sing. We joined in for alot of the songs.

Sunday, Dylan and Chris went with Ben, Eric, and Uncle Jim to the lake to fish. They took Jim's boat. Dylan and Ben (Jim and Becky's youngest son) were the only two who caught any fish! While the guys were at the lake, us girls all went to the mall for lunch and shopping!

Here are some pictures:

We all had such a nice visit- one we hope to repeat real soon! (hopefully next time we will be able to stay longer!)

Pirates Won!

Dylan had his 1st game of the season this morning and they won! Go Pirates! Dylan did an awesome job. He was first in the batting order and did his team proud each inning. He hit a home run the very first inning! He played outfield by 2nd base for two innings and played 1st base man for the third inning (there's only 3 innings in t-ball). I was a very prod momma!

Adoption Article

Several people here in Memphis saw this article in last Friday's paper. Some were concerned that it might affect our adoption.

Although it is a very interesting article, we are adopting from Ukraine and they, thus far, do not share Russia's concerns regarding adoption. Also, the article says that private adoptions are still going thru and what we are doing is essentially a private adoption.

Anyway, it is good reading, not just for those considering adoption, but also for anyone interested in the sad plight of those many orphans over there.

PTA Election Night

Tonight was the PTA Election meeting, I went by myself because Dylan and Chris had t-ball practice. I didn't think it would be a big deal because no one was running against me for the Parental Involvement Chair on the board. However, I ended up having to go on stage and be "sworn in"! Those of you who know me well know how shy I am. I was very nervous and I am sure I was a couple shades of red :-)

Anyway, I am all set to be on the PTA board for the 2007-2008 school year and I am really excited. I really want to be involved in Dylan's education and this is a good way to help.

BTW- Dylan's first t-ball game (last week was rained out) will be this Saturday! Go Pirates! I will definitely have mty camera ready!

Virginia Tech

To all the families affected by the tradgedy at Virginia Tech- Our hearts and prayers go out to you all.

There is nothing worse in life than to lose your child. And for such an unexpected, senseless, tragic reason.....words just can not express adequately...

!Fiesta! Birthday

Tonight my mom had a fiesta themed birthday dinner for me (birthdays tend to last a week around here :-)) I LOVE Mexican food so she made me tacos and fajitas. I knew about what we were eating (I requested it) but she still had a surprise for me- a pinata! Dylan had never seen a pinata and I can't remember the last time I actually got to play with one so it was a fun treat for both of us! We ended up having a great time. Thanks mom!

Oh, BTW, I did shave the mohawk off tonight :-) Sorry Dylan :-)
Now he looks even more like his daddy!

The New Dylan????

First the most exciting news (and sad news for a mom who realizes her son is growing up way too fast).....

DYLAN LOST HIS FIRST TOOTH!!!!!! It's the front, bottom, left tooth.

We asked him what the going rate for teeth was from the tooth fairy and he said $7! I said "so that is how much your friends have gotten????" He said "I don't know but it sounds good to me!" The tooth fairy actually brought him $2 which is more than his father and I ever got :-)

Also, today, I decided Dylan really needed a hair cut. He surprised me by saying he wanted it shaved like dad's and he wanted daddy to do it. Well, daddy shaved it alright- minus the mohawk up the middle!

Dylan thought it was so cool. I told him there was no way he could go to school like that but he did manage to talk me into keeping it for the weekend.....

Mommy's Birthday

I had a pretty nice birthday day. My dad took me to one of my favorite restaurants for lunch- P.F. Changs! It was delicious as usual.

Dylan and Chris took me to a new restaurant near our house for dinner. After dinner we went to Baskin Robbins for ice cream! That was fun!

Check out these pics of Dylan- he certainly enjoyed the ice cream :-)

Thank you all for your birthday wishes!

Our Easter Weekend in St. Louis!

Thursday night, Dylan, Chris and I drove up to my grandmother's house in St. Louis. It was a long drive but we made it there by 10 and Dylan was really good (thank goodness for car DVD players!).

Friday the three of us met one of my aunts at the St. Louis Mills Outlet mall. This is where we took Cedie last November. We got Chris some new shoes and Dylan some summer shirts. We also visited the NASCAR store (Chris and Dylan's favorite). Nana, G-daddy, and Aunt Mel all arrived that afternoon. Friday night we all had a great dinner and lots of visiting!

Saturday we went to the St. Louis City Museum. It was awesome and we all had so much fun. They have indoor caves, lots of things to climb up and slide down, really cool art displays, and much more. We took the kids there hoping to wear them out but all of us left totally exhausted! We had a blast!

Sunday we all attended my grandmother's church. She was so proud to show off her family! After church we had a huge, delicious lunch. They all surprised me after lunch with a birthday cake (my birthday is tomorrow, the 9th). Around 3pm we started the journey home. We actually made better time coming home than we did going.

Chris, Dylan, and I ended the weekend by watching Happy Feet. It is so cute. Dylan and I had seen it before (we had taken Cedie to see it last December-it was the only movie she ever saw at a theater).

I have lots of pictures from this weekend that I will post soon.

T-Ball Season!

It's T-ball season again! This is Dylan's third year playing. They actually called him a veteran LOL!

He had his 4th practice last night (I kept forgetting to bring the camera so I used my cell phone to take a couple pics). He is having so much fun. There are several kids on his team that he played with last year.

His games will start April 14th. We can't wait. There is almost nothing cuter than watching 4-6 year olds play t-ball!

**A few of the other moms whose children played with Dylan last year asked the dreaded "how is little Cedie doing." Cedie went to one of the games last season and she went to the end of the season party. It is actually getting easier to talk about. Its always awkward though because people just don't expect me to say that she's gone.

The Annual Easter Egg Hunt

Every year on the weekend before Easter, for the past 4 or 5 years, we take Dylan to his God mother's church for their Easter Egg Hunt. Dylan and her son Grant always have such a fun time. The church put out 15,000 eggs this year (last year it was 12,000)! They divide the field into different sections for each age group. The church also has hot dogs, chips, and cokes. After the hunt there are always lots of inflatables for the kids to play on. We always have such a great time!

Notice the eggs in Dylan's basket? He only picks the blue or green eggs! He is all boy! He did the same thing last year except he gathered a few pink ones to take to Cedie at the hospital. Cedie never got to have Easter outside of the hopital but I'm sure she was smiling down on Dylan today and laughing at his picky egg hunting :-)
